Batangas: Land Of The Rolling Hills And Wide Shorelands

Batangas, considered as a first class province in the country is found in CALABARZON region on the southwestern part of Luzon. The place is meted by the provinces of Cavite and Laguna in the north and Quezon province on the east. This province is an aggregation of fields and mountains and has the wide shoreline making it the biggest island at the Southwest side of the country. The province is one of the famous tourist ends which are very close to Metro Manila.

Beautiful Spots in Batangas

Batangas has been one of the most visited places in the country for its exceptional diving spots and tantalizing beaches. Batangas has beaches and resorts like the Anilao in the Municipality of Mabini, Matabungkay in Lian, Punta Fuego in Nasugbu, the administrative district of Calatagan and the Laiya in the Municipality of San Juan.

The province also has some of the well-known mountain like Mt. Taal which is known to be the smallest volcano in the world. This volcano has the elevation of 600 meters with a crater filled with water and convenes at the very heart of the Taal Lake which is believed to be a very old volcanic crater. Anilao, Batangas in the Municipality of Mabini is known to the world for its notable dive spots. These dive sites are just right for both sightseeing marine life and the best for large photography.

Fernando Air Base in Lipa City houses the Philippine Air Force Air Education and Training Command. The province has several museums that would speak for its history and heritage. It has the Museo ng Katipunan in Barangay Bulaklakan, Lipa City, the Apolinario Mabini Shrine in Tanauan, Miguel Malvar Hospital which is Leon Apacible Historical Landmark in Sto. Tomas, and Museo ng Batangas at Aklatang Panlalawigan, also in Tanauan.

Batangas Way of Life

Most of the people in Batangas are farmers if not fishers who would trade their own harvest and products in the market. They chose not to use what they have learned from school in spite of the degree they have finished. They would rather put up and run their own business.

People of this province are religious that they would pay tribute through religious rites to show their respect to their patron saints. They are still doing the same thing these days. People of Bauan and Alitagtag has their own way of celebrating the feast day of their patron saints Mahal na Poon ng Sta. Cruz in May. During this time, they would dance the Subli.

The feast of Our Lady of Caysasay is celebrated by the people in Taal Town and they do this through a fluvial parade to show their respect and honor to the Blessed Mother.

The province has been one of the best tourist spots in the country during the Marcos regime. Thus, people from nearby places find a very welcoming culture in its people or what is commonly called the Batanguenos. Both men and women of the place are considered to be heavy drinkers. They drink as if it would be the last drop and there's no tomorrow. People or guests who have gone to far-flung barangays can prove this.

The province in not only known for the love of its people to liquor. Batanguenos often have sweet tooth that they love sweet food. The province is said to be a major producer of sugar in the whole land - the Central Azucarera Don Pedro. And it has been the major manufacturer of stud's coffee or what is commonly called kapeng barako. Taal Town is known for its hand embroideries, its fan knives which are commonly referred to by Filipinos as balisong, and its sausages.

Batangas is a famous destination for vacationers who have crave for beaches. The beaches in the province are known for its serene atmosphere with powdery sands and cool water. Many come to enjoy a day of beach vacation. The province is only about 2 hours away from Manila.

Batangas is known for its rolling hills and wide shore lands that attract more visitors each year making it a famous tourist destination in the Philippines.
