Inside The Hub Of Quezon City
Quezon City is the largest city in Metro Manila and was the capital of the Philippines up until the mid 1970s.
You will find the offices of two of the largest Philippine networks here GMA-7 along Edsa corner of Timog Avenue and ABS-CBN along Mother Ignacia Street. But one of the best destinations here is the Araneta Center in Cubao. Cubao is considered the hub by many since you can find a ride to almost anywhere.
Across Ali Mall (named after the boxer Muhammad Ali), is the Central Bus Terminal for provincial buses. If you walk straight along P. Tuazon Avenue, you will reach EDSA, the major highway connecting Metro Manila. Ride a Southbound bus and you will get to the Ortigas Business District in Pasig, Mandaluyong City, Makati City, and the Mall of Asia located in Pasay City. You can also get a ride on one of Northbound buses, going to Novaliches, SM City North, Trinoma, East Avenue, Commonwealth and Fairview. If you walk going towards Aurora Boulevard, you can take a jeep going West to go to historical places like Intramuros and the Luneta Park. If you take the jeepneys going East, it will take you to the Marikina area and even as far as some barrios of Rizal Province like Taytay, San Mateo, Montalban and Antipolo.

The Araneta Center was also the location for the old indoor carnival in the Philippines, the Fiesta Carnival. Sadly though, the carnival’s location has been turned into a big supermarket.
The new Araneta Center is now known for the Gateway Mall, a shopping complex with its own cinema and a food gallery.
One of the main attractions of the Gateway Mall is the floating garden called the Oasis. The garden has fountains which supplies the water of the fish pond.
Pizza Hut Bistro, a tenant of the mall, also leased out the space for their al fresco dining. It’s a haven in the middle of a busy shopping complex.
The Araneta Center is well known for the Araneta Coliseum. Notable events in the Coliseum include the Ali-Frazier fight, concerts of local and international stars, basketball games and Disney on Ice.
After the renovation, the Coliseum now serves as a bridge between the Gateway Mall and Farmers Plaza.
