A Preview Of Manila Attractions
A large return of visitors proves that they are truly glued to the various Manila attractions because of its rich culture, warmth of the Filipino hospitality and many beautiful landmarks that make one’s vacation meaningful.
Manila is the capital of the Philippines and one of the 17 cities and municipalities comprising the Metro Manila or the National Capital Region (NCR). A densely populated area, it is a place of numerous parks, a stretch of several high-rise business and hotel edifice, shopping malls and historic places that represent its unique civilization.
Manila is a habitat of copious national, memorial and mini-parks altogether. And the trip will never be complete without setting foot on Rizal Park, formerly known as Luneta Park (because of its small moon shape) and Bagumbayan (New Town) during the Spanish colony. It is at the northern end of Roxas Boulevard overlooking Manila Bay. On it stands the monument of the national hero who was executed right in this site and whose death and sacrifices later led to the country’s freedom from Spanish tyranny.
This Park has been a venue for memorial events for many decades including the declaration of liberty from American rulership and a place for different political rallies. Across the monument is the Kilometer Zero mark or a point of origin for all the cities in the entire country. Locally, it is a famous spot for family picnics during weekends. Quirino Grandstand is another main attraction showcasing cultural events and concerts with its uncovered auditorium and popularized the event called “concert at the park”, the Chinese and Japanese Gardens, a fountain area, Orchidarium and Butterfly Pavilion and a lot more. The main office of the Department of Tourism is likewise located here.
One of the historic places that profoundly depict the Spanish regime and influence in the country is the Intramuros. It is oldest district of the city and basically built by the Spaniards in the 16th century which literally means “within the walls” for it is a structure enclosed in thick, high walls. It is considered as the Manila during the Spanish era. This place was restored as directed by the former Philippine First Lady Imelda Marcos, after the place was devastated at the end of World War II. The Spanish influence is essentially retained up to now adding lesser strokes of innovation. Within it is the momentous Fort Santiago, one of the most visited sites in the place.
Various churches and cathedrals are located in this district among them is the Manila Cathedral. A trip to these places will not only give you a better appreciation about Filipinos’ way of life but all the more revive your spiritually.
Manila attractions include the Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden and recently opened Manila Ocean Park are among the tourist spots for those who are nature enthusiasts.
A wide variety of top-rate hotels to much affordable lodging houses lies along Roxas Boulevard, Ermita and Malate. A bunch of restaurants, bars, cafés, entertainment lounges, casinos, art museums and several facilities are found all over the place to further one’s stay. A lot is in store for you, varied Manila attractions are yet to be explored.
